European Ocean Biodiversity Information System
EurOBIS is an online marine biogeographic data system that centralises biogeographic data on marine species. The EurOBIS system is used in various European projects. The system discloses marine biogeographic data from different European institutes. All data are subject to standard quality control so as to ensure a minimum quality level for the use of the data.
More technical information on the system and services are described on the webpages of EurOBIS.
Some examples of applications of EurOBIS into other systems:
- EMODnet Biology: portal for marine biodiversity data sampled within Europa.
- LifeWatch: virtual laboratory for marine biodiversity research. EurOBIS is part of the LifeWatch Species Information Backbone.
- OBIS: the Ocean Biodiversity Information system discloses data from Eurobis.
